How do I identify the different versions of SMC2655W AP?  back
If it has two antennas then it's version one.
Default IP address is 192.168.0.254 and default password is 'MiniAp'

If it has one antenna then it's version two.
Default IP address is 192.168.2.50 and default password is 'default'.
 
How do I open the web interface of the SMC2870W?  back
Open a new browser window and in the address bar type in 'http://192.168.2.25' and hit the enter key. In the SMC2870W's web-interface, enter the following:

Default username : admin
Default password : smcadmin
 
How do I upgrade a firmware for SMC2870W?  back
Click on admin settings -> for the 'upgrade firmware', click on 'browse' -> point to the access point firmware file in the CD -> click on upload.

After upgrading the firmware, reset the device to factory defaults.
 
How do I change the wireless settings on SMC2870W?  back
Click on Basic settings -> enter the following:
Visibility Status : Visible
Wireless Mode : Mixed (11 b + 11 g )
Wireless Network Name (SSID) : Set it to your name
Channel : 2.4 GHz channel 6
Transmission rate : 11

Open a new browser window and in the address bar type in 'http://192.168.2.25' and hit the enter key. In the SMCWEBT-G 's web-interface, enter the following:

Default username: admin
Default password: smcadmin
 
How do I change different operating modes for SMCWEBT-G?  back
Click on 'Home Network Settings' and select the operating mode as 'Access Point' or 'Repeater' or 'Ethernet Client Mode" and click on 'save settings'.
 
How do I change wireless settings on SMCWEBT-G?  back
Click on wireless -> Channel and SSID -> set the following values, as per your router settings:
Wireless Network Name (SSID) : Set it to your name
Broadcast Wireless Network Name (SSID) : Enable
Wireless Mode : 11b / g mode
Wi-Fi Channel Number : 6
Extended Range : Disable
 
What do I do if I am unable to get a print out when the DIAG button is pressed?  back
  • Make sure the connections are fine.
  • For the Initial configurations connect the SMC2621W to the LAN port of the router.
  • Make sure the Printer is connected properly to the USB/Parallel port of the SMC2621W.
  • Make sure the error light does not GLOW on the device, if it is lit up. Unplug the printer and re-plug it after 10 sec.
  • Make sure the LAN light is lit up fine on the SMC2621W device.
 
What is the reset procedure for SMC2621W?  back
To restore the factory default settings:
  1. Turn the Wireless Print Server OFF.
  2. Press and hold the diagnostic button. While pressing the button, switch the Wireless Print Server ON.
  3. If you continue pressing the button for 10 seconds, a diagnostic page will be printed, showing the new (default) settings.
 
What should I do if I see an ERROR light as soon as the printer is connected to SMC2621W?  back
  • Unplug the Printer and re-plug it back after 10-15 sec.
  • If still the ERROR light is lit perform a hard reset on the device using a paper clip. Hold the DIAG button for 15 sec. and than release the DIAG button.
  • Try connecting another printer, as it would be printer compatibility issue.
