Aug 1, 2005 - SMC Networks Successfully Completes TR-069 Interoperability Testing in SupportSoft Digital 360° Lab
SupportSoft Interoperability Testing Confirms SMC Device Compliance with CPE WAN Management Protocol

Redwood City, CA, August 1, 2005 – SupportSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRT), a leading provider of Real-Time Service Management (RTSM™) software, and SMC Networks , a leading networking solutions provider, today announced that SMC has successfully completed compliance testing of its networking solutions with the DSL Forum CPE WAN Management protocol. Known as TR-069, this specification ensures that SMC DSL customer premises equipment (CPE) can be easily configured, activated and managed from a console in a service provider’s network, enabling service providers to maintain efficiency in both cost of deployment and maintaining customer satisfaction with SMC CPE, as well as tightly manage triple play service delivery.

TR-069 provides the necessary framework for efficient and scalable deployment of new services on top of the DSL broadband infrastructure, including combined delivery of IP-based voice, video and data services. SMC Networks and SupportSoft have validated that SMC’s DSL CPE devices and SupportSoft ServiceGateway™ software interoperate in accordance with the DSL Forum TR-069 specification.

The SupportSoft Digital 360° Interoperability Lab was launched in December of 2004 to help CPE vendors perform independent testing of DSL Forum specification compatibility.  The DSL Forum is recognized as the leading industry consortium dedicated to developing the full potential of DSL broadband.  Its membership includes 200 leading service providers, equipment manufacturers and other interested parties worldwide -- all committed to developing common standards and embracing new applications to meet the needs of the next generation of multi-media services for DSL customers.

SMC's long history of incorporating ease-of-use into our products enables broadband providers to manage CPE devices with ease and, at the same time, maintain continued customer satisfaction.  TR-069 compatibility provides that extra edge for DSL providers by ensuring seamless CPE management and interoperability with our hardware. SMC’s DSL gateways easily couple with standards-based activation, provisioning and management systems to provide feature-rich, easy-to-deploy solutions for service providers,” said Tony Stramandinoli, SMC Networks ’ vice president of worldwide marketing. “The SupportSoft Digital 3600 Interoperability Lab has enabled us to prove that our equipment works with industry specifications for remote network management.”

“Today’s satisfied broadband subscribers are likely to turn into the triple play customers of tomorrow.  A key competitive advantage that service providers can utilize in increasing customer satisfaction is ensuring that broadband installation and configuration is as effortless and transparent to the customer as possible,” said Richard Caballero, director of product management at SupportSoft.  “Having successfully completed SupportSoft Digital 3600 interoperability testing, SMC is now another step ahead in helping service providers to accomplish this goal.”
