SMC Networks, a leading vendor of high-quality, reliable Customer Premise Equipment for Service Poviders, and its partner, uControl, a leader in the Home Security, Monitoring and Automation (SMA) space, are pleased to announce their joint ETL certification, for the two companies' home security, monitoring and automation solutions. The SMC Networks/uControl home security system, marketed under the SMC Ruby brand, is the first of its kind to have met specific American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) standards for safety as tested and validated by Intertek.
'Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are aggressively establishing deeper roots in their customer's home. Bundling is no longer a buzzword. Home security and automation is a natural fit to the ISPstrategy.' says Todd Babic, CEO of SMC Networks. 'The Ruby product line certification represents a very significant milestone for SMC, as we build on our broadband gateway success. We're pushing the demarcation point to the finger tips, creating our own strategicbuild.'
'Since our inception nearly five years ago, uControl has been focused on delivering the safest, most secure and reliable solutions to end customers through our cable and telco partners,' said uControl CEO Jim Johnson. ' We partnered with industry leaders like SMC, and made a bet on ZigBee as the right wireless protocol to ensure compliance to these standards. The authorization to apply the Intertek ETL certification mark further validates we are making the right choice for our partners andtheircustomers.'
Receiving an ETL certification denotes that SMC Networks and uControl comply with required North American product safety standards for the US and Canada, the manufacturing site has been audited, and that SMC Networks and uControl have both agreed to a program of quarterly factory follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance.
