17October 2007 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, has received ‘Works with Vista’ accreditation for two routers in its Barricade™ N line of wireless networking products. The testing assures that the products integrate cleanly and smoothly into customers’ Windows Vista environments.

The newly certified products are two of SMC Networks’ broadband routers, the SMCWBR14-N2 Barricade™ N Pro Draft 11n Broadband Router and the SMCWGBR14-N Barricade™ N ProMax Draft 11n Gigabit Broadband Router, which both provide complete all-in-one networking for connecting and sharing a high speed cable or xDSL Internet connection.

Both networking products offer the speed, distance and bandwidth advantages of IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 alongside backward and cross-vendor compatibility with 802.11 b/g wireless. Designed for both home and office use, they excel in demanding applications such as network gaming, high-definition video streaming, file sharing and VoIP and are capable of data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps – almost six times the rate of 802.11g.

Each of these platform-independent multi-function routers combines a 4-port LAN switch, a high-speed Wireless 802.11 n access point, NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Intelligent stream handling technology and a User friendly web-based management interface in one convenient device.  The Gigabit-capable SMCWGBR14-N also offers increased functionality by including a multi-function USB2.0 print server.
