Overview
The SMC8004CM is a 2-way, high-speed DOCSIS™ 1.1 CableLabs®-compliant Cable
Modem that lets you enjoy the benefits of a high-speed broadband Internet
connection. The SMC8004CM is software upgradeable to DOCSIS 2.0, ensuring
compatibility with a majority of the cable Internet providers. It delivers
improved raw bridging performance up to 54 Kbps, filtered bridging performance
of more than 27 Kbps with one filter, and TurboDOX™ technology, which
significantly increases bandwidth efficiency for TCP applications. The
SMC8004CM connects to your computer’s Ethernet or USB port. It support
downloading speeds up to 38 Mbps and uploading speeds up to 30 Mbps. Advanced
features include IP address filtering to prevent unwanted traffic on the
network, and SNMP agents that permit remote configuration and monitoring from
a management station equipped with an SNMP server. DES data encryption ensures
privacy for transmitted information over cable media. A browser-based utility
allows convenient viewing of key network statistics.
